Watcher of the skies: Genesis Revidited fue un proyecto puesto en marcha por Steve Hackett para dar tributo a su antigua banda Genesis. Trae las canciones que originalmente salieron en su estancia en el grupo de 1971 a 1977. La canción Déja Vu, fue escrita conjuntamente con Peter Gabriel en 1973 durante las sesiones del Selling England by the Pound pero no la terminaron, Hackett terminó la canción especialmente para este album. Waiting Room Only se le dió una arreglada general de la vieja The Waiting Room un instrumental del 74, de la epoca del The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. Watcher of the Skies: Genesis Revisited (UK release titled, "Genesis Revisited") was a project put together by Steve Hackett to pay tribute to his former band Genesis. It features songs originally released by Genesis during Hackett's tenure with the group (1971–77). The track, "Déjà Vu", was co-written with Peter Gabriel in 1973 during the Selling England by the Pound sessions but not finished and Hackett completed the song for this album. "Waiting Room Only" is a complete reworking of "The Waiting Room," an instrumental from 1974's The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. There is also a completely new Hackett song: "Valley Of The Kings."

Steve Hackett - Tokyo Tapes

The Tokyo Tapes es un album en vivo del ex-guitarrista de Genesis Steve Hackett, presentando un super grupo de rock progresivo, con John Wetton ex-miembro de King Crimson, UK, y Asia; Chester Thomson del grupo de jazz Weather Report, Frank Zappa y Genesis en vivo; Ian McDonald, también de King Crimson y Foreigner; terminando con el tecladista Julian Colbeck que ha trabajado en Yes, con Anderson, Bruford Wakeman Howe.

El album fue una recopilación de dos conciertos en el Koseinenkin Hall en Tokyo, Japón el 16 y 17 de diciembre de 1996. También trae unos tracks de estudio.

En 2001, salió un DVD en vivo también llamado The Tokyo Tapes y las mismas presentaciones que tenía el CD. Traía todas las 17 canciones en vivo mas 18 minutos de ensayos y biografías de los miembros de la banda.

Steve Hackett - Blues with a Feeling

Steve Hackett abandonó sus planes de hacerse una carrera con la harmonica cuando se unió a Genesis a fines del 71. Con Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford y Tony Banks, disfrutó de un éxito fenomenal, con Selling England By The Pound en el 73, y después con el album conceptual de 1974 The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway llegando a claisficarlos como “Classic Album”. Después de la partida de Peter Gabriel en la voz Phil Collins se pasó de la batería a la voz proncipal en 1975 y tuvieron otro exito con los discos Trick of the Tail y Wind & Wuthering.

A pesar de todo esto Steve renunció al grupo en 1977 tratando de desarrollar su propio estilo. Y ha sacado mas omenos unos 15 discos desde entonces.

En 1986 formó el grupo GTR con Steve Howe de Yes. La banda logró un Top 10 US con el sencillo y las ventas del disco fueron certificadas de platino. En esa epoca segun la revista Time y Billboard que durante el periodo de dos semanas de agosto del 86, todos los miembros o ex-miembros de Genesis tenían discos en el Top 20 de las listas Billboard, un total de 5 entre ellos! Para darnos una idea de la calidad de estos musicos.

Steve Hackett muy a menudo imitado pero nunca igualado tiene un estilo totalmente diferente a todos los demas guitarristas, pero siempre tiene ese don que nos hace maravillarnos de su calidad como músico. Es y será una inspiración para la siguiente generación de músicos. En esta ocasión les presento una trabajo totalmente diferente a lo que nos tiene acostumbrados de rock progresivo, es un disco totalmente de blues y con la calidad de Steve, pues ya saben no tiene madre, está super chingonométrico, así que a disfrutar !
