Steppenwolf - For Ladies Only

For Ladies Only es el sixto album de estudio del grupo Speppenwolf, lanzado al mercado en 1971. Tiene un concpto político y estaba de moda el feminismo y la liberación femenina, pero también tiene unas rolitas convencionales de amor, pero un poco inusuales para Steppenwolf. Algunos críticos tachan el disco de sexista, por algunas de las letras de las canciones de este. Pero algunos ven la banda flirteando con un poco de rock progresivo, este disco (me gusta mucho en realidad) llegó al número 40 del top 100. Es uno de mis favoritos, aquí se los dejo para que lo disfruten. Long Live Rock'n'roll!

For Ladies Only is the sixth studio album by Steppenwolf, released in 1971. It is a political concept album mainly about feminism but with several more conventional songs about romance as well, both unusual themes for Steppenwolf. Some critics saw the album as sexist, citing the lyrics of the songs and an image of a vehicle shaped like male genitalia alongside the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the sleeve. The album saw the band hinting toward the progressive rock movement that was popular at the time with more complex arrangements and sophisticated keyboard playing, particularly on the title track. Like their previous album, it was accompanied by two minor hit singles which fell just short of the Top 40.

Monster es un disco en el que quizo envolver la política, la doble moral norteamericana, y otros rollos, pero no tuvo ningún hit en su epoca, así que no tiene ningún exito. A mi me gusta mucho porque me lo trajo mi hermana cuando se fue a dar un rol por Europa hace algunos años (en los 70s), y siempre me gustó muchísimo, y con el aprendí inglés me iba al pinche "Harmon Hall", antes de irme de intercambio al gabacho, así que me parece muy bueno, pero bueno a ver que opina el respetable, ahí se los dejo..

  Monster is an album by Steppenwolf. Released in 1969, it was their first LP with new lead guitarist, Larry Byrom instead of Michael Monarch. The album was Steppenwolf's most political one, making references to important issues at the time, such as the Vietnam War.

The title refers to the contemporary politics and state of the US, as in the lyrics to the title song:

"The cities have turned into jungles,

and corruption is stranglin' the land.

The police force is watching the people,

and the people just can't understand.

We don't know how to mind our own business,

'cause the whole world's got to be just like us.

Now we are fighting a war over there.

No matter who's the winner, we can't pay the cost.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose,

it's got our heads into the noose.

And it just sits there... watching."

The album was the first Steppenwolf album not to feature a US top ten hit, and can thus be seen as the beginning of their slow fall from fame. Even though this album, "Live", "Steppenwolf 7" and "For Ladies Only" are today seen as making up the latter half of their ultimate prime, their days of "Born to Be Wild"-like fame were over. Still two singles from the album cracked the top 40, and Steppenwolf would continue landing albums in the US top 20 for a while yet, a factor that became more and more important during this time.

Ironicamente, algunos críticos lo tacharon de sexista, por que la portada original tenía un carro en fomra de verga en la calle donde está el Hollywood Walk of Fame. De todos modos es un album bastante bueno y para que el respetable escuche a John Kay que siempre a cantado chingón. Bueno aquí se los dejo para aque lo escuchen.
